About us
The Streetsboro Quilt Guild started at the old Streetsboro Library on April 1, 1979, when they posted a sign there for people interested in quilting.
Delores Kosarek and her friend were the first leaders at the time. About 8-12 people showed up for the first meeting.
It was then decided to meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, which to this day we still do.
Membership was limited to 30 members, with five in reserve for openings. Today our membership is open and at present we have about 33 members.
The following are activities that were done in the past and some we still do:
Show & Tell at meetings
Exchanged birthday blocks
Ugly Fabric Challenge
Exchange hand crafted gifts at the annual Holiday Party
Attended a quilt show at Miami of Ohio and stayed two nights in a campus dorm room
Made baby quilts for members
Made a prayer quilt for a member afflicted with breast cancer
Making and tying baby quilts for local charities
The following are activities were are currently doing:
Yearly Quilt Show
Supporting the Streetsboro Food Pantry
Making fidget quilts for Alzheimer's Patients
Making fabric grocery bags for the food pantry
Making pillowcases for Akron Children's Hospital
Making dining scarves for local long term care facilities
